Design your garden in winter to enjoy in spring and summer

Winter is cold in the garden but this is the best time to get out there,

get active, and design your garden, and plant your garden ready for spring and summer outdoor living.

Landscapers also get very busy heading into spring and summer as everyone is in a rush to have gardens ready for Christmas.

By designing in winter you will beat the rush and be ready to sit back and enjoy the garden once warmer weather is here.

Once spring starts, the weather starts to warm up and can often be quite hot.

Plants will do better if they are already in the garden and have started to establish as the weather slowly warms up.

Things to consider when designing your garden:

  • Soil -- type, pH and need for improvement
  • Aspect - how much sun will it get at different times of the year
  • Existing plants and structures
  • How you will use the garden
  • Screening, pathways, steps, seating, fire-pit area,
  • Theme, colour, foliage

Grevillea 'Winter Delight'
